Difference Between Roofing Materials
There are many different roofing materials to choose from. It can be difficult to choose which is the best one for your home. This video will explain some of the differences between certain roofing materials so you can make the best decision.
The most common type of roofing material is asphalt shingles. There are different thicknesses based on what you need and your budget. They also come as separate shingles and as sheets. They will last you 15-20 years and require some maintenance. They are the most cost-effective option to go with.
There are also wooden shingles. Cedar is a very common material. The wooden shingles need to get wet and swell up, then dry out. This will give it waterproofing without leading to rot and mildew. Venting material is used to ventilate the shingles on your home. It costs more than double when compared to asphalt, but when done right can last up to 50 years.
Metal roofing is the most durable of all of your options, and also the most expensive. Sheets of metals are installed. They are almost completely weatherproof after being treated with hydrophobic sealant and paint.
